| | Maple syrup season is in full swing up here! Do you like maply syrup? | | Maple syrup defined for people who don't know: A tree called a maple has sap that can be boiled down to make a nice sweet syrup. People tap (use something to get the liquid out of the tree-usually like a little metal object) the tree and the sap runs into a bucket or into a hose to a holding tank. The sap is boiled. It takes gallons of sap to make a much smaller amount of syrup. So do you live in an area that has maple syrup? Haven't had the time and don't have a way to cook it (it causes so much condensation in a house that you ruin your ceiling, so you never cook it in a house). If I had less work and my husband had rebuilt the outdoor barbecue like I had requested. . .. But I've had subbing for 3 days straight and the outdoor cooking area now has trees growing up through it as well as he had said something was wrong and had to be rebuilt anyway. Do you make maple syrup? Have you... | |
| | Trying to be more active after the loss of our grandson 6 months ago | | In August I posted I would not be on Mylot for sometime. I have not been much. I am not even sure yet how much I will be on here. Slowly getting back to being active on the internet more. In August my four year old grandson my heart died in a tragic accident and it has been extremely hard on all of us. His parents and 5 siblings live with us and so it is a roller coaster of emotion at times. But going to Hospice and Compassionate friends and creating Heaven's Children group on Facebook and on Gather.com has helped. I am still deeply sad and always will be in my heart and miss him terribly every day. But the shock, the numbness, most the anger has worn off. The acceptance has set in but it is still not easy. Every holiday and ocassion we feel his loss. He was such a vital happy loving child and had a great love for God he is now in heaven and with our brother and Savior Jesus. He is with... | |

| Ever made a big purchase online? | | I need a new tractor to mow my lawn with. I can go to Home Depot or whatever and buy one there, but there's also a dealer near by who told me he could give me better service. But I've found some even better prices online ( http://www.usedtractorsupply.com/ ) but I don't know about making such a big purchase online.I buy books and stuff online from Amazon, and I've bought clothes and other relatively cheap things, but when it comes to make a purchase that is multiple thousands of dollars, I don't know how comfortable I necessarily feel about that.Has anyone ever made a huge purchase online? What did you buy and how much was it? Did you feel comfortable doing it?Thanks.

| | do you have any weird or unforgettable story about shoemakers or shoe repairs? | | they were my first original sneakers: a new white pair of FILA sneakers years ago. the soles repelled later so i brought them to the nearest shoe repair shop. i instructed the shoemaker to stick them back and sew each shoe around. he gave me the schedule so i returned to collect them. he said that he forgot them in their house so i returned the next time. i haven't found him so i asked his mom. she shrugged her shoulders telling me that my shoes might have been sold because her son was taking some crap. i was totally helpless and regretful but i couldn't do anything about it anymore.
here in thailand, i bought a pair of good leather shoes but after a few months, the rubber on the heels needed replacement. i went to the shoe shop and asked the shoe repair man to replace it. he gave me the date to collect and i returned as scheduled. i was speechless seeing that the workmanship was a...
| | Building up power behind that swing! | | So everyone that has played baseball or still is playing baseball wants to hit the long ball and why not since apparently Chicks Dig The Long Ball. The only problem is not everyone has the ability or body to have the power. At least thats what they think.I have a few tricks or training methods I have used in the past that worked with me. I wished I would have trained like this when I was in little league and in high school.First method and it will sound alittle funny is go to the local hardware store and buy a ax. Yes an ax the same tool to cut wood. It will cost you around 20 to 30 dollars depending on the ax. Than the next part could be free or might cost some. I was luckily able to find a house that needed would cut. Get some nice logs or trees and practice cutting sorta like swinging a bat. If your right handed bring the ax from your right ear down and through the wood. Left... | |

| Thank God my mother is getting a divorce! Please pray for her! | | Well I am the happiest woman right now my mother in law is finally talking divorce. She married a man that everyone was suspicious of. Including the preacher that she asked to marry them. But today was the last staw she told him today that she didn't need a gigolo to take care of. This man had a motor home to drive around in when she married him and it was falling apart, she let him drive around in a brand new truck (her truck) and he has wrecked it and tore the transmission, and brakes up on it. Got her to repair a tractor that didn't need anything wrong with it landed up spending a thousand dollars on it. Now he wants her to spend more money and not put money back in the bank. Tried to force her to sell the tractor today and that was the last straw. Wants her to sell it to support him and she just blew up. She talked to someone she knows and they told her she can have a divorce in 30... | |
| | Sawn Off Words Which Have Replaced the Originals! | | For a long while, most of my life, in fact, I've been loosely monitoring the changes happening in English. One of these--a very natural change--is the shortening of our words in this hurry-up world in which we live. Today, I just want to have a bit of idle fun with it, & invite you to do the same. What follows is abrief list of words which I've seen shortened in my own lifetime. I'm 62 (well, Iwill be in a couple of weeks...[em]wink[/em]). One of them has been in use for so long I had to stop & think of what the older version was, & one of them I don't recall at all--I just know it used to be longer!Once you see these, try to recall others, AND--if you can--predict other words you believe may be on their way to being snipped! (Not certain if "texting" style "words" should count, as they're not really merelyshortened, they're nearlyobliterated.... | |
| | loosing our loved ones. suddenly or expected? | | i ask this question first because my previous discussion made me wonder about the opinions i would get on this. the reason i ask this is because there are two people in my life my father and my fiance who have suffered horrible losses my father of his twin brother and my fiance of his mother.now to the hows and whys of each.
my father lost his brother in a christmas tree fire or atleast that is what the official report says even if my family believe there was foul play on the part of the still living wife who was not at home at the time. the fire took his brother and two sons in the middle of the night and my father (there is a connection between twins that is true this is evidence) woke up in the middle of the night and knew something was wrong with his brother to find out a few hours later he was gone from this world. his pain is evident every year around this time of year because he...

| Some toys can be so annoying!! | | My youngest son's favorite toy is this tractor trailer truck. Unfortunatly the 2 pieces of it come apart very easily. It's meant to do that.. but the problem is it's so difficult for a young child to put the pieces back together. So he brings the toy to me to "fix it". Then he takes it to go play, and a minute later he's back with the pieces seperated again. I'm half debating super gluing them back together!! Is there a toy in your home that you're constantly putting back together? | |
| | | How Did the Tractor Get to the Island? | | Explain how the tractor got there?
You are on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is in a remote part of the country and there has never been a bridge connecting the island to the mainland.
Every day a tractor and wagon gives hay rides around the island. Puzzled as to how the tractor had gotten onto the island, you ask around and find out that the tractor was not transported to the island by boat or by air. Nor was it built on the island.

I will check back once a day but will not post Best Response to the first one who gets it right until I either have sufficient answers to merit it or at least a week has gone by so as to give those who like riddles a chance to see it and enter their answer.
